Brad Pitt just combined two of life’s greatest pleasures: Wine and skincare.
While the actor doesn’t come to mind first when thinking of celebrities who would set out to enter the beauty world, Pitt does have expertise in creating fine wine—which he is now applying to his brand Le Domaine. It’s anything but another Hollywood-centric line.
“Le Domaine is not meant to be a celebrity brand,” Pitt says in a press release. “It is an anti-aging cosmetics range for every man and woman. I love the idea of a genderless line.”
The actor, who owns Chateau Miraval winery in Provence, aims to bring skincare back to the basics of nature (think grapes).
“Our goal is to imitate the organic cycles of nature,” Pitt says. “There is no waste in nature. Anything left over or discarded becomes food for something else. This exemplary circular system is the inspiration for Le Domaine.”
Pitt enlisted the Perrin family—who worked with Pitt to restore Chateau Miraval a decade ago—to co-found Le Domaine, along with help from Dr. Pierre-Louis Teissedre, who specializes in wine and human health.
“For a long time, I had tossed around the idea of creating a skin care line,” the actor says. “When the Perrins told me about the research they had conducted with [Teissedre] on the antioxidant property of the grapes and leaves, it clicked.”
Antioxidants are the star of the show here. “Wine and skincare are exact sciences,” Teissedre explains in the release. The chic packaging, a glass bottle adorned with sculptural wood, further indulges in the wine and nature theme.
Le Domaine is designed to slow the aging process, with the help of two patented ingredients: GSM10, an active that fights oxidation and enzymes that break down collagen, and ProGR3, a combination of antioxidants (including resveratrol derived from grapevines). The said result: firmer, radiant, more elastic, and smoother skin. The four products (The Serum, The Cream, The Cleansing Emulsion, and The Fluid Cream) boast a “light, elegant genderless” scent created by a Grasse perfumer, featuring orange blossom, woody cedar, and sandalwood.
“I’m a big fan of every single one and use The Cream daily,” Pitt notes. “I really like the texture because it’s creamy, moisturizes quickly, and makes my skin much more comfortable under the California sun.”
While this line isn’t likely to turn you into Benjamin Button, it has the science of grapes to support its claims—while looking gorgeous on your bathroom vanity.
